Introduction & Financial Plan Creation
We are excited to work with you and get you started on your financial plan. Our plan creation process includes five meetings followed by ongoing support based on your needs. Please note that meetings #4-6 are for clients only. These meetings represent our standard process. Your advisor will work with you to determine what process is best for your situation. Once your plan is created, you and your advisor will set scheduled check-ins to help you remain on track (these can be scheduled through the following section).
Meeting #1: Introductory Meeting
This meeting is about mutual discovery – for us to get to know each other better, for you to ask questions, and for us to discuss our financial planning process. We will talk a bit about your goals, your areas of concern, and how Planned Ahead would be able to offer support. If you are planning on completing a plan with a spouse/partner, we suggest you both participate in this call. I look forward to meeting with you!
Meeting #2: Discovery (Optional)
Following your introductory meeting, the discovery meeting will allow us to take a deeper dive into your financial situation and goals. In addition, this meeting will give you the chance to ask any additional questions before becoming a client and starting the financial planning process. Lastly, we will take the time to go over all of the financial statements we will need for our next meeting, the “Get Organized” meeting.
Meeting #3: Engagement (Optional)
This 15-minute meeting is to review our engagement summary and ensure all details are correct before sending you the official agreement. We’ll discuss any necessary revisions and outline the next steps. Once we have come to an agreement, we will send you a formal agreement that can be signed electronically. This agreement allows us to start offering you personalized financial advice.
Meeting #4: Get Organized & Take a Deep Dive
This meeting involves getting into the weeds of your financial situation. We understand this can be tedious and try to make this as painless as possible. We ask that you bring the requested documents to this meeting (or submit them in advance). We will review these documents together to create a “big picture” view of your finances which will allow us to start on your financial plan.
Meeting #5: Explore Possibilities
Once your financial information is in our software, we will analyze and evaluate your current financial status together. This meeting also allows us to discuss your goals in greater depth and see how your financial situation currently matches. Once we have done this, we can evaluate what changes or adjustments may need to be made and what options are available.
Meeting #6: Plan Delivery & Discussion
Once your plan is ready, we will schedule a time for your plan delivery meeting to present our recommendations. Our goal for this meeting, is for you to commit to implementing your top one or two recommendations. In addition, we’ll discuss follow-up meetings and the importance of making us aware of any life changes in order to update your plan.
Ongoing Support & Check-Ins (Clients Only)
Do you need to schedule a check-in or have a quick question for your advisor?
Financial Check-In - 1hr
We typically recommend quarterly check-ins with an annual detailed plan review (following the delivery of your financial plan). After we have set your plan, we will work together to decide on a frequency that works best for you.
Q&A Session - 30min
Do you have a question or a big financial decision? We can use this time to answer your question as it relates to your financial situation or evaluate how a big decision may impact your financial plan. Please include your question when booking this meeting.
